This article explains how to change a shift's start and end times, propose new times for a booked shift,
and adjust shift dates or locations through the Clipboard web portal.
Editing Shift Times
The steps for changing a shift's start and end times depend on whether the shift has been booked and whether the worker has clocked in.
Note: To change a shift's billing rate, see the guide: How to Change the Charge Rate for a Shift.
Instructions for Desktop
Editing an Unbooked Shift
If no worker has booked the shift yet, you can change the start and end times directly.
- Open the Schedule page and find the shift.
- Select the shift to open the shift details panel.
The shift details panel shows the time slot badge, time range, date, charge rate, and current status. An unfilled
shift displays the fill-in-progress indicator:
- Select the edit (pencil) icon next to the time range, or open the more options menu and select Edit time.
- In the Edit Shift Time dialog, enter the new start and end times.
- Choose whether to apply the change to:
- This shift only
- All shifts of this qualification (e.g., all CNA AM shifts)
- All shifts
- Select Save.
The Edit Shift Time dialog shows the current time, Start time, and End time fields with am/pm toggles, and Cancel Save buttons:
Proposing New Times for a Booked Shift
If a worker has booked the shift but has not yet clocked in, you can propose new times. This applies even if the original start time has already passed, as long as the worker has not clocked in.
A booked shift shows the assigned worker's name, status (e.g., "On time, ETA 2:57pm"), and contact information
in the shift details panel:
- Coordinate with the worker on the shift before proposing new times.
- Open the Schedule page and find the shift.
- Select the shift to open the shift details panel.
- Open the More Options menu and select Propose time.
- Enter the new start and end times and select Propose.
- Both the start and end time must be in the future.
- The proposal is sent to the worker through the in-app chat.
- You can update your proposal by repeating steps 2 through 5.
After you send a time proposal, a "Shift proposal sent" banner appears on the shift details panel, indicating the
proposal is pending:
The worker can accept or decline the proposal from their end of the chat. You can track the status of your
proposal through the indicator on the shift details panel:
| Status | Meaning |
| Proposed | The proposal has been sent and is awaiting the worker's response. |
| Accepted | The worker accepted the proposal. The shift is updated to the proposed times. |
| Declined | The worker declined the proposal. The original shift times remain unchanged. |
| Cancelled | The proposal was canceled (see expiration conditions below). |
When the worker accepts the proposal, the banner updates to confirm the new times:
If the worker declines, the banner reflects the declined status:
When a Time Proposal Expires
A time proposal is automatically canceled in any of these situations:
- The worker clocks in to the shift.
- The proposed start time has passed.
- The worker is no longer on the shift (e.g., the booking is canceled by either party, the system detects a no-show, or the worker is added to your Do Not Return list).
Editing a Shift Already Underway
If the worker has already clocked in, a clocked-in shift shows the worker's clock-in time in the status indicator:
- Extension of 2 hours or less: You do not need to edit the scheduled shift time. Ask the worker to clock out earlier or later as needed. You or a user on your account can also edit the clock-out time on the worker's digital timesheet when signing them out. For instructions, see the Digital Timesheets guide.
-
Extension of more than 2 hours: Contact support for assistance (see below).
