What is Extra Time Pay?
Extra Time Pay is a bonus that facilities can offer professionals to encourage them to book more hours at their facility.
How do I know which facilities offer Extra Time Pay?
Navigate to the facility’s profile in the Clipboard Health app to find Extra Time Pay dropdown. The Extra Time Pay types the facility offers and doesn’t offer will be described there!
If any type of Extra Time Pay is offered by a facility, you’ll see the "Extra Time Pay Facility" icon on a shift in the calendar. Tap on the icon to view more information.
What are the different types of Extra Time Pay?
Clipboard Health supports two types of Extra Time Pay: Workday and Weekly. For each type of Extra Time Pay, the pay rate of the shift is multiplied by a multiplier chosen by the facility (for example, 1.5x) for every hour over a threshold amount set by the facility (for example, 40 hours in a week or eight hours worked consecutively). Facility can choose which type of Extra Time Pay to offer.
- Workday Extra Time Pay is offered when a professional works for more than a threshold number of hours consecutively at the same facility through the Clipboard Health app. Consecutive hours are considered over more than one shift, i.e. back-to-back shifts, as long as the gap between the two shifts is less than 60 minutes. The workday threshold can be configured by facilities between 2 and 16 hours. A second Workday threshold can also be added. So, for example, a facility can enable Workday Extra Time Pay at 1.5x the normal rate for consecutive hours in excess of 8 and at 2.0x the normal rate for consecutive hours in excess of 12.
- Weekly Extra Time Pay is offered when a professional works more than 40 hours in a calendar week, from Sunday 12 a.m. to Saturday 11:59 p.m., at the same facility. Shifts are included in the calendar week based on the start time of the shift. Any Extra Time Pay earned from a Workday Extra Time Pay bonus will be subtracted from the Weekly Extra Time Pay bonus to avoid double payment.
Is Extra Time Pay included in the earnings displayed on the shift?
No. Because Extra Time Pay can be earned over work performed through multiple shifts, Extra Time Pay is paid separately as a bonus.
What pay rate is the Extra Time Pay bonus based on?
Extra Time Pay is based on the pay rate of the shift, including any applicable differentials, when the Extra Time Pay bonus is earned, and the pay multiplier(s) that is set by the facility.
When am I paid the Extra Time Pay bonus?
The Extra Time Pay bonus will be transferred to your Stripe account as soon as the shift or shifts that qualify for the Extra Time Pay bonus are verified or have been paid to you with InstantPay.
Can my Extra Time Pay bonus change?
While a facility may initially offer a specific Extra Time Pay bonus when you book a shift, it retains the right to adjust these settings as needed. If a facility modifies its extra time pay settings after you've booked a shift, including changes to the types of extra time pay offered or the complete removal of extra time pay, your eligibility for extra time pay will adhere to the updated settings. However, these changes will only be effective if made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time for the shift. Please always check the notifications we send, as we will promptly notify you of any alterations to the compensation structure, and you will be provided the ability to cancel the shift(s) without affecting your attendance score.
