What is Extra Time Pay?
Extra Time Pay is a bonus that a facility offers you, the healthcare professional, to work many hours with them.
What facilities offer Extra Time Pay?
It depends! Facilities can choose whether they want to offer Extra Time Pay.
How do I know which facilities offer Extra Time Pay?
Navigate to the facility’s profile in the Clipboard Health app to find the Extra Time Pay dropdown. The Extra Time Pay types the facility offers and does not offer will be described there!
Also, the "Extra Time Pay Facility" icon will display on a shift in the calendar if the facility offers Extra Time Pay. Tap on the icon to view more information.
What are the different types of Extra Time Pay?
Clipboard Health supports three types of Extra Time Pay that a facility can choose to offer:

Single shift Extra Time Pay is when you work for more than a certain number of hours during a single shift that you booked through the Clipboard Health app. For example, if you work an AM shift for 10 hours and the facility is offering Extra Time Pay at 1.5x the pay rate for every hour over 8 hours, you’ll earn an Extra Time Pay bonus for those 2 hours worked past 8 hours.

Back-to-back shifts (oftentimes called a double) Extra Time Pay is when you work more than a certain number of hours over 2+ consecutive shifts at the same facility. For example, working a PM shift and then a NOC shift at the same facility would be considered for back-to-back shifts Extra Time Pay if the facility is offering the bonus and the gap between the two shifts is less than 60 minutes.

40+ hours in a calendar week Extra Time Pay earns you a bonus for working more than 40 hours in a calendar week, from Sunday 12 am to Saturday 11:59 pm, at the same facility. Shifts are included in a calendar week based on the start time of the shift. But remember, any Extra Time Pay earned working a single shift or back-to-back shifts during the calendar week will be subtracted from any Extra Time Pay earned for working 40+ hours in a calendar week.
Is Extra Time Pay included in the earnings displayed on the shift?
No. Because Extra Time Pay can be earned over multiple shifts, we calculate Extra Time Pay behind the scenes and then pay the additional earnings as a bonus.
What pay rate is the Extra Time Pay bonus based on?
Extra Time Pay is based on the pay rate of the shift where the Extra Time Pay bonus is earned and the pay multiplier(s) that is set by the facility.
When am I paid the Extra Time Pay bonus?
The Extra Time Pay bonus will be transferred to your Stipe account as soon as the shift(s) that was worked to earn the Extra Time Pay bonus is verified or has been paid to you with InstantPay.
Where can I see my Extra Time Pay bonus earnings?
In the Clipboard Health app, navigate to My Account > Payroll to find information about your payment settings and earnings. You’ll be able to find all shifts and bonuses paid to you in the Lifetime Clipboard Health Earnings dropdown.
You’ll find your Extra Time Pay earnings by looking for our clock icon. We also show you what type of Extra Time Pay bonus it is and what shifts were worked to earn the bonus.
How is my Extra Time Pay calculated?
Extra Time Pay is calculated using the shift’s pay rate and the pay multiplier(s) and hours worked threshold(s) set by the facility offering the Extra Time Pay. Let’s look at a concrete example to illustrate what happens behind the scenes!
You, a Certified Nursing Assistant, work back-to-back shifts on September 9th in the AM and PM. The AM shift is 6 hours long with a pay rate of $23 and the PM shift is 9 hours long with a pay rate of $24. The total hours worked is 15 for the back-to-back shifts.
The facility is offering Extra Time Pay for back-to-back shifts, making yours eligible for more earnings! The facility offers:
