Clipboard Health exists to help healthcare professionals like you earn money on your own schedule- your success is our reason for being! We receive continuous feedback from the healthcare facilities that use our platform, and we are happy to share that feedback and our own tips to help ensure you are successful when using our app!
Prior to Booking:
- Allow the Clipboard Health app access to location services on your device.
- To use the Clipboard Health app, you will need to enable Location Services and set the permissions Always allow.
- Location Services is what powers exciting features like InstantPay, Urgent Shifts, WorkerETA, and more.
- Ensure your profile is up to date and upload a recent picture of yourself so facility staff can recognize you.
- Photos are only visible to authorized users, and help build trust when booking shifts on the Clipboard Health Marketplace.
- Be sure that you are well aware of our attendance requirements for users of our platform.
-
Thoroughly review the facility profile and shift information before booking.
-
Each facility shares important information for healthcare professionals in their facility profile. This includes covid status, parking information, and much more.
-
The pay for the shift will also be available here.
-
After Booking:
-
Once you have booked a shift, you will be able to send a message directly to the facility to ask any further questions you may have.
-
Sending a message to introduce yourself is a great way to begin building rapport with the facility!
-
Please remember to be professional and courteous in all communications.
-
-
Arrive on time and ready to start your shift.
-
If you are running late, be sure to communicate this proactively. Many times, a facility will provide a phone number in their profile for you to call if you are running late.
-
You may also use the in-app chat feature to communicate this, but remember, the facility may request other ways of communicating in their profile.
-
You may also receive a shift confirmation alert- you can learn more about those here.
-
-
Ensure you have clean scrubs, and if you have a name tag, consider wearing it!
-
You can ask the facility if they provide temporary name tags, or create your own!
-
It is helpful for residents, their families, and other staff to be able to easily identify you- a first name, last initial, and a license type is great!
-
-
Participating facilities often prefer that you remove any artificial nails, or trim any long nails before arriving at your shift.
-
Facilities have confirmed that this is a common healthcare safety and hygiene protocol. You can learn more about this on the Joint Commission website here.
-
-
During Your Shift:
-
Be sure to clock in immediately upon arrival-- clocking in and out in the app is the way to ensure you get paid instantly when the shift ends! You will also need to upload a photo of a paper timecard at the end of your shift, which will be available at the facility.
-
Please also be sure to use any timekeeping system the facility requests, including a paper timecard, Kronos, ADP, or others.
-
-
Participating facilities also have recommended that professionals do the following during shifts:
-
Introduce yourself, and be sure you understand your assignment.
-
Most facilities require healthcare professionals to take a break during their shift– it's great to ask in advance when you should take that break and what the process for doing so is.
-
Consider asking the facility where you can safely store personal items like your cellphone during your shift.
-
Participating facilities often view the use of cell phones and electronic devices during a shift as a sign that professionals are not completing their tasks.
-
-
Chart, or document patient care, to help prevent mistakes and provide a record of the care provided for other healthcare professionals.
-
Some facilities use MAR, PCC, or other electronic means to do this documentation. Please be sure you understand how to chart and provide documentation on patient care.
-
-
Practice excellent clinical care.
-
This includes but is not limited to adhering to the National Patient Safety Goals set forth by the Joint Commission, which are:
-
Identifying patients correctly
-
Using medicines safely
-
Preventing infection through hand cleaning guidelines
-
Preventing patients from falling
-
-
-
Practice professionalism, and customer service in your interactions with staff, or others inside the facility.
-
Specifically, facilities have recommended:
-
Making eye contact, smiling, greeting people, and introducing yourself.
-
Remembering that body language talks- and knowing what yours might be saying.
-
Speaking respectfully, asking questions and thanking others for their assistance.
-
Avoiding conversations that may be perceived as gossip, complaining, bragging or boasting about your pay, or are otherwise inappropriate in a workplace environment.
-
-
-
After Your Shift:
-
Clock out on time– but not before ensuring the next provider has arrived and is ready to take over.
-
You will be paid for any extra time worked after your paper timesheet has been uploaded and approved.
-
-
Leave a review for the facility, preferably providing constructive feedback.
-
Unresolved complaints or issues should be addressed by contacting our support team, not through reviews.
-
-
Enjoy your InstantPay- and book another shift!
-
Facilities have said that they LOVE having the same professionals inside their facility. If you had a great experience, please let the facility know, and be on the lookout for future shifts posted there.
