The Worker Left Early feature allows you to request a replacement worker directly through the app if the original professional assigned to your shift ever needs to leave early, and you can indicate if you permitted the early departure or not.
The feature also automatically notifies Clipboard Health anytime a worker may have left early before completing at least 50% of the shift, so we can proactively contact you to help coordinate finding a replacement if you need one.
When a replacement is requested, an Urgent Shift will be posted at a boosted rate covered by Clipboard Health, and we will notify eligible professionals in the marketplace to get your shift filled as quickly as possible.

You can mark if a professional has left a shift early from the shift in the web or mobile app. You can select if the professional left with or without permission and request a replacement professional to cover the rest of the shift if needed.

When can WLEs be processed?
WLEs can be processed during a shift, after the shift end time, and after shift verification. You can request a replacement professional until 90 minutes before the shift end.
When should I mark WLE with permission?
Some common situations where a professional arrives at the shift, has to leave, and you are okay with their departure may include:
- The professional had a family emergency
- The professional was sick
- The professional had to leave early for a non-urgent reason
When should I mark WLE without permission?
Some common situations where a professional arrives at the shift, has to leave, and you do not approve may include:
- The professional wasn’t meeting the expectations of the job
- The professional wasn’t working or wasn’t able to be found working the shift
What is the difference between WLE and Send Home?
Send Home is the option you use when you no longer need the professional, (ex. staffed in-house). In all other cases, when a professional leaves your shift early for their own reasons, use the Worker Left Early option.
Will I be charged for a professional who leaves early?
You will be charged for any hours worked before the professional leaves a shift early if they have clocked out or you confirmed the hours they worked with the Clipboard Health support team. You may dispute an upcoming charge or invoice.
Will the professional be penalized for leaving early?
If you approve the professional leaving, then the worker will not be penalized. If they did not have permission, they will receive an attendance penalty. Professionals can dispute their attendance score deduction.
