Many features of our marketplace require the Clipboard Health app to always have access to your device's precise location data. This is why you will need to enable location services (located in your device's location permissions settings) to use the Clipboard Health app. The FAQs in this article briefly address some common questions related to those requirements. For additional information, we encourage you to review Clipboard Health’s Privacy Policy.
Q: Which marketplace features require always-on location sharing and precise location data to be enabled?
A: You will not be able to perform the following actions if precise location permissions are not granted and maintained for the Clipboard Health app:
- Book shifts in the marketplace
- Receive InstantPay payment
- See Urgent Shifts near you
Q: Why is precise location data needed for these features?
A: Precise location data allows us to calculate Worker ETAs for facilities so that they know a professional is on their way to an upcoming shift. We also use location data to determine if a professional is not on track to make an upcoming shift so that it can be offered to other nearby professionals as an Urgent Shift. And for InstantPay, shift arrival and departure times gathered from location data help us verify the completion of shifts in order to distribute earnings without first requiring an uploaded timesheet or other facility confirmation.
Q: My phone notified me that the Clipboard Health app checked my location many times over a short period - why is that?
A: Two important features of our marketplace, Worker ETA and InstantPay, require us to confirm location continuously in the time leading up to and during shifts. Therefore, during these periods, we may check the location of a professional’s device to provide an accurate ETA to facilities as well as confirm the shift is complete so that the professional can be paid immediately with InstantPay.
