Many features of our marketplace require your device’s location permissions to be set to always on and allow the app access to precise location data. This is why you will need to enable location services to use the Clipboard Health app. The FAQs in this article briefly address some common questions related to those requirements. For additional information, we encourage you to review Clipboard Health’s Privacy Policy.
Q: Which marketplace features require always-on location sharing and precise location data to be enabled?
A: Currently, the following marketplace features will be unavailable to professionals if these permissions are not granted and maintained:
- The ability to access the marketplace.
- The ability to book shifts.
- The ability to receive payments through InstantPay.
- The ability to see nearby Urgent Shifts.
Q: Why is precise location data needed for these features?
A: Precise location data is needed for our Worker ETA feature, which allows us to confirm to facilities that professionals are on their way to an upcoming shift. We also need precise location data to help us determine if a professional is not on track to make an upcoming shift so that it can be offered to other nearby professionals as an Urgent Shift. We use location data gathered when professionals arrive at and leave their shifts to verify the completion of those shifts in order to distribute their earnings via InstantPay, rather than waiting for an uploaded timesheet or other facility confirmation.
Q: My phone notified me that the Clipboard Health app checked my location many times over a short period - why is that?
A: Two important features of our marketplace, Worker ETA and InstantPay, require us to confirm location continuously, at the beginning, end, and leading up to a shift. Therefore, during these periods, we will frequently check the locations of professionals’ devices to provide accurate predictions about arrivals to facilities, as well as confirm that a shift has been completed before distributing earnings via InstantPay.
