How will I know that I can negotiate my rate for a shift?
You will see the option to “Propose New Rate” in green on the shift. Selecting this option will initiate a negotiation between you and the workplace, allowing you and the workplace to decide on the rate that works best for both parties.
Throughout the negotiation, you will have the option to book the shift at the posted rate at anytime.
Can I negotiate the pay rate for every shift?
The rate negotiation feature is only available for shifts that are posted more than 24 hours ahead of the start-time. Therefore, shifts that are posted within 24 hours of the shift's start time, such as Urgent Shifts, will not give you the option to propose a new rate.
Some workplace may request to not offer the Rate Negotiation feature, and you will never see the "Propose New Rate" option on their shifts.
Some shifts also may not be available for negotiation based on recent actions. For instance, if you've cancelled a shift (or have been unassigned), you will not be able to propose a new rate for that shift.
Can I propose a pay rate for two or more shifts with conflicting times at different workplaces?
Yes, you may negotiate more than one shift at a time. However, once a pay rate has been successfully negotiated, the app will automatically end any open negotiations for shifts that have a start or end-time within 30 minutes of the shift that has successfully been negotiated.
Example: If you or the workplace approves a pay rate proposal for a shift scheduled from 9 AM - 6 PM, any open negotiations for shifts that have a start or end-time within 30 minutes of 9 AM or 6 PM will be automatically closed.
How can I check the status of my negotiated rate?
You can access your negotiations and their status directly through the mobile app by selecting My Shifts > Shifts In Negotiation. Shifts will be visible for 24 hours after the negotiation has ended.
.
Can another worker book a shift that I am negotiating a pay rate for?
Yes. If this happens, you will see the text “Booked by another Worker” on the shift in your Shifts In Negotiation page.
What happens if a workplace does not respond to my rate negotiation request?
A negotiation will automatically end 24 hours before the shift is scheduled to start, regardless of the status. This means that negotiations for a shift starting on Tuesday at 9 AM, will automatically end on Monday at 9 AM, even if the workplace did not respond to your request.
If the negotiation window ends before your rate is accepted, you can still book the shift at the originally posted rate, as long as it isn't booked by another worker.
What options does the workplace have when they receive my new rate proposal?
The workplace will have three options upon receiving your negotiation request:
- Accept - this will assign you to the shift at your proposed rate.
- Propose a new rate - the workplace can counter your proposal with a new rate and you will have the option to accept their counter, propose a new rate once again, or end the negotiation altogether.
- End negotiation - this means that the facility is not open to negotiating this shift's pay rate and has chosen to end the negotiation.
You will be notified via email, SMS, or Push Notification each time a workplace replies to your proposal. Change your account account preferences if you would like to make changes to these notifications.
Will a negotiated rate apply to all future shifts at that facility?
No. Negotiated rates will only apply to one shift.
